In collaboration with co-producer/director Andy Truschinski and cinematographer/editor Sean MacLaughlin, we are producing a feature documentary film called Bullets to Books, which tells the story of 28 year-old Jok Abraham Thon, founder of the Promise Land Secondary School in South Sudan. Jok’s mission is changing minds from bullets to books, believing that it is through education that South Sudan and the rest of the world will find peace.  The 10-minute short documentary is the winner of the 2019 Ron Kovic Peace Prize, Best Short in the Humanitarian category, Best Music, and My Hero Prize; 2020 best short documentary at the Big Apple Film Festival; and is a 2020 official entry in the Manhattan Film Festival, Global Impact Film Festival, and Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival.

    • Hi Lisa, I was on the phone with Andy and relayed your message.

I loved this festival and all of the films. I texted Andy when your film screened, thinking how thoughtful it was in the way the festival aligned our films.

I really hope we all stay connected. The efforts, the stories, the spirit are inspiring and powerful.
